Film Review - Rango

At the end of 2010, there was the release of the trailers for Johnny Depp's two upcoming films, 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' and 'Rango'.  Considering the general popularity of the Pirates series, it was no surprise that the excitement for this out shined the latter.

Not many people had particularly high hopes for the film 'Rango', the story of an ordinary chameleon who dreams of being the heroic actor, however they were then pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

Rango, the voice of Johnny Depp, ends up lost in the desert, struggling to find water in the unbearable heat.  In his search he asks an armadillo where water can be found and is sent to the town of 'Dirt'.  Once there he realises that there is little water, which is later stolen.

Volunteering himself to the Sheriff, he makes it his goal to discover who the thief is and where the water has gone.

The film then follows his journey, along with the animals of the town who attempt to retrieve the water they are so desperate for.

'Rango' is a light hearted movie and an amusing creative animation that children enjoy, yet has the odd underlying joke that will bring out a giggle in the majority of adults.
